WAXING BY EPILATOR - FOR EFFECTIVE AND LONG LASTING RESULT

WAXING BY EPILATOR - FOR EFFECTIVE AND LONG LASTING RESULT

To have smooth and hairless skin is every girl's dream including mine. If you think that there are endless options for hair removal - well actually it’s not true. We have got only a few alternatives like Shaving, Waxing, Hair removal creams and Epilating.

I have recently got to know about epilator, thanks to lockdown which makes me so helpless that I have started looking for hair removal methods other than waxing and have discovered epilator. An epilator might be the hair removal method I’ve been searching during these quarantine days. This electrical device is designed to remove the hair directly from the roots.

WHAT IS AN EPILATOR?

Epilating is a procedure of body hair elimination where one can use a gadget with rotating tweezers to eliminate the hair from the root.

TYPES OF EPILATOR

  • Dry Epilator

  • Wet Epilator

  • Tweezer Epilator

  • Corded Epilator

  • Cordless Epilator

  • Combo Sized Epilator

HOW TO USE EPILATOR?

Epilator and Waxing work in a similar way, both the process removes the hair by roots. But an epilator does not use wax but just a battery or switch on the plug to epilate.

Place an epilator at a 90-degree angle to the skin for the best results. Hold the device loosely and don't press it against your skin otherwise, it will cause some burning sensation.

For epilating, pull the skin tight and then move the epilator in the direction of hair growth.

IS IT PAINFUL?

Yes, I just want to ask you that is waxing hurts - needless to say, it hurts. Like waxing, epilator also rips out the hairs from roots, so it's going to hurt. Both can be fairly painful depending on our pain tolerance. But as I found out, the pain wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was after epilating.

HOW LONG THE RESULT WILL LAST?

The smooth and hairless skin lasts for three to four weeks. The epilator doesn't trim the hair but removes the follicle under the skin so it will take a while before the hair growth reaches the surface again. But the best part is hair that grows back are softer, thinner, scantier and finer.

WHAT SHOULD BE THE SIZE OF HAIRS?

The epilation actually works better here because for waxing we have to wait till particular growth but epilator can grab the hair as short as of 0.5 mm length. So, epilation is the best option to remove the shorter hairs as waxing is not effective on short hairs.

WHERE CAN WE EPILATE?

Technically we can use epilator anywhere on our body but with varying levels of pain.

From my experience, I can say legs and hands won't give such pain, its same as waxing. Underarms are little painful than waxing, to have less pain skin of underarms should be taut.

I have never used it on my face and public area so, cannot share the experience of those but have read that its more painful than a bikini wax and facial removal process.

PRE-EPILATION AND POST EPILATION PROCESS

The pre-epilating process includes:

  • Epilator should be clean

  • Exfoliate your skin to remove the dead skin

  • Bath or warm water shower to loosen the hair follicle

  • Dry yourself properly before starting the process

The post-epilating process includes:

  • Moisturize, More Moisturize, Even More Moisturize is the only mantra

  • Scrubbing and epilating dry the skin so dampen your skin with some moisturizer will be healthy for the skin. I always use Johnson's baby oil with vitamin E or you can also go with aloe-vera gel.

WHICH EPILATOR SHOULD BUY?

There are a lot of epilators in the market ranging from low range to high range. Some epilators come with the standard epilator, while others having different attachments like trimmer, massager, exfoliating brushes, attachment for bikini or public hair. One has to buy the epilators according to their need.

I have bought a PHILIPS SANTINELLE and now I am sure that I am never going to have waxing again.

I will advise one to buy the corded epilator and not the cordless one as there will no fear for the battery to drain out at any time.

You can buy the epilator from Flipkart, Amazon, Nykaa and Myntra.

POINTS TO BE NOTED

  • One should epilate the skin in the night so all the redness, irritation and bumps will disappear in a couple of hours.

  • Epilators have different speed, one should start with the lowest one and gradually increase the speed.

  • For the best results, one should move the epilator slowly across the body.

  • Clean the epilator after every use to avoid the risk of skin infection.
